On some occasions it may be easier to screenshot / screengrab an error message or an applications settings to provide an image to support rather than typing/explaining it out.
Operating System Based
Taking screenshots natively in Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, 8.1,10 & 11:
Have the windows you want to ‘take a picture of’ visible on your screen.
- Press Print Screen key on your keyboard (on laptop a Function/Fn key combination may be required)
- Open MS Paint by clicking Start > All Programs > Accessories > Paint
- Hold Ctrl and press V (this should paste the screenshot into paint)
- Click File > Save As entering a filename and saving to your local computer.
- Attach the file to your support ticket when contacting support.
Using the snipping tool for Windows Vista, 7, 8, 8.1,10 & 11:
- Press Start button in the lower left hand corner
- Search for snipping tool in the search bar
- Click the New button
- Place your cursor where you wish to begin the screenshot
- Press and hold the Left Mouse button and drag to where you wish to stop the screenshot, then release the button
- Press File > Save As and save the file
Taking screenshots natively in Macintosh OS X:
- Hold the command key (⌘) and shift at the same time and then press 3.
- This will create a screenshot called Picture 1 on your desktop.
- Attach the file to your support ticket when contacting support.
Alternatively for Macintosh OS X:
- Hold Command + Shift + 4
- Place the cursor where you would like to being the screenshot
- Hold Left Click and drag to the point you want to end the screenshot
- Release Left Click
- This will create a .png file on your desktop
Taking screenshots in Ubuntu 22.04 :
- Open Screenshot from the Activities overview
- In the Screenshot window, select whether to grab the whole screen, the current window, or an area of the screen. Set a delay if you need to select a window or otherwise set up your desktop for the screenshot. Click Take Screenshot.
- In the Save Screenshot window, enter a file name and choose a folder, then click Save.
