Time To First Byte

Time To First Byte or TTFB is the time that passes between clicking on a link to a website and the server responding with the first byte of the requested content.

A server that is slow to respond / having high TTFB is likely to be overloaded as result of insufficient application optimisation and/or resource exhaustion.
